Brockenhurst College Hospitality chief Allan Collier was called to sit on a cake judging panel for Colten Care recently, an invitation he duly accepted.

The care company pitted eighteen of its chefs against each other in the competition, with results exhibited and judged at its newest care home in Poole.

All the entries together represented a wide range of colours, flavours, textures and imaginative concepts.

The winning cake was a pumpkin and pecan creation decorated with leaves, animals and mushrooms to reflect the autumn season.

It was made by Hannah Clark from Colton Care’s Court Lodge care home in Lymington.

Allan, who also runs New Forest Cookery School, said afterwards: “The results were really quite spectacular, both in terms of taste and appearance.

“They were easily as good as the cakes you might see on The Great British Bake Off,” he added.
